Saturn is a planet that makes us aware of limitations in life.
Because underneath it all we are an unlimited, infinite being --
Saturn's influence tends to feel difficult to our mind, body and
ego - the very structures of limitation themselves. Through the
mind/body we only have so much time, energy, intelligence -- and
really anything else you can imagine. Pondering these
limitations, we become serious about life - we grow up. The
ultimate limitation is the death of our physical body and mind.
Ultimately that is the job of Saturn, to make us mature. We would
like to be foolish and forget unpleasantness. Especially in the
West, where we have been taught the point of life is to have as
much fun as possible, Saturn is looked at as quite a difficult energy.
